Contribution Guidelines: Events

What should be listed as an Event?
An Event is a story arc that crosses through multiple series with a core set of issues and sometimes tie-in issues from other series.
  • Story Arcs that do not span at least three titles may not be added as an Event. Some examples include:
    Batman: City of Bane
    Batman / Flash: The Button
    Amazing Spider-Man: Brand New Day
    Amazing Spider-Man: Big Time

  • Mini-Series Crossovers are often large scale story arcs with many characters that take place in a single mini-series without tie-ins to other series. These may not be added as an Event. Some examples include:
    Secret Wars (1984)
    Ultimate Invasion

  • Crossover Events are smaller scale Events that contain a few crossover tie-ins with other titles along with a set of core issues. These can be added. Some examples include:
    Batman: Death of the Family
    Gothtopia
    Superman Reborn
    Lazarus Contract
    Edge of Spider-Verse
    Spider-Geddon

  • Epic Events are larger scale Events that contain many crossover tie-ins, core issues, and often have prologues and epilogues. These can be added. Some examples include:
    World War Hulk
    Forever Evil
    Knight Terrors
    X of Swords
    Future State
    Dark Knights: Death Metal

  • Publisher Initiatives that do not include a core story arc with a beginning, middle, and an ending may not be included. Some examples include:
    All-New Marvel Now!
    DC Rebirth
    DC You

Issue Checklist
An ordered list of issues relevant to the Event/Crossover.
  • Prologue issues introduce an event - setting the stakes, tone, and cast ahead of the actual event. They are not just issues that come before the event, these are explicitly about the event, generally branded as such.
  • Core issues feature the main story of the event.
  • Tie-In issues are comics that are generally optional that tie-in with the main event, within a different series or a one-shot.
  • Epilogue issues focus on the conclusion of an event - setting the status quo.  They are not just issues that come after the event and its impact, these are explicitly about the event with a clear conclusion.
  • Prologue issues must be at the top of the list.
  • Core, Tie-in, and Epilogue issues must be sequenced appropriately to the reading order/event timeline.
  • Notes may be added, but only with minimal editorialization. It is not our role to determine if it's good or not.

Any and all relevant collected editions for the Event/Crossover.
  • Collected editions should be grouped by category, in the following order: Complete, Core+TieIns, Core, and then Tie-Ins.
  • Sort TPs/HCs appropriately within their categorization by their release date. Exceptions can be made for a multivolume series (eg. Vol 1-4).
  • If the entirety of these multivolume collected editions constitute a complete event, these books should be listed under "Complete".
  • Notes may be added, but only with minimal editorialization.
