The League of Comic Geeks has been around since 2010 and will continue to be continually improved and updated. Below are some of the most recent updates.

April 2024


Website Updates:
Major updates to the website have been made, including:
  • Variants are now collapsed under the Main Cover making it more organized, and auto-included in the Format filter.
  • Added an Inline Series List Search: Search for a Series within your Collection, Read List, etc.
  • Added a Variant Type Filter: Specify which types of variants you want to see.
  • Added Unique Series Views: Series and Issue Views are now separated. Choose your preferred View for each.
  • Added Detailed View for Series Lists: Horizontal View mode for the series list. Should feel familiar to mobile app users.
  • Added Series Collected Tracking: Rewritten for 95% of use cases. Looks at all formats and uses story-tracking. Old one only tracked regular issue progress.
  • Added Read Progress Tracking: Rewritten for 95% of use cases. Looks at all formats and uses story-tracking. Old one only tracked regular issue progress.
  • Improved Creator Page Attribution: The comic list will now more accurately cover all issues they're credited with, esp. variants.
  • Added Default Series Thumbnail Settings: All Series Thumbnails can be displayed as relevant to your comics or the first issue.
  • Added NSFW Cover Settings: New setting to not display NSFW covers. On by default.
  • Added Titles / Issues Toggles: Browse by Series and Issue modes are now simple toggles in the UI. (Pro/Patron)
  • Added Comic Key Indicators: From any issue list, enable Key indicators to display. Hover over them to see their key events. (Pro/Patron)
  • Added Comic Key Filters: Filter any list to show keys - major, minor, not a key or all keys. (Pro/Patron)
  • Added Bulk Selection: When viewing most lists, you can now turn on Bulk Selection to check off which issues you'd like to edit in the Bulk Add/Edit tool. (Pro/Patron)
  • Added Series Average Rating: See your average rating from issues within a series. (Pro/Patron)
  • Added Series Estimated Value: Calculated estimated value for all issues owned in a series using the sales data. (Pro/Patron)
  • Added Series Key Counts: See how many keys you own from a series. (Pro/Patron)
  • Added Series Sorting Options: Average Rating, Reading Progress, Number of Keys, Estimated Value.   (Pro/Patron)
  • Added Inline Issue List Search: Filter by simply typing in the issue number or range of issues (eg. 5-13). Also good for variant names. (Pro/Patron)
  • Added Advanced Series View: Individual toggles to display Average Ratings, Estimated Values, Progress, Keys, and collected issue info to the Series List. (Pro/Patron)
  • Added a Character Appearance Type (Main, Supporting, Cameo, etc.) filter for comic lists (Pro/Patron)
  • Added Customizable Series Columns for Table View. (Patron)
  • Added a Graded Filter: Filter to all graded, non-raw comics. (Pro/Patron)
  • Added Custom Series Titles for Sorting: Change how a Series is sorted in the Series List for your Collection. (Patron)
  • Added Custom Series Titles for Display: Change a Series Title in the Series List for your Collection. (Patron)
  • Added Custom Series Thumbnails: Override the Series thumbnail with whatever image you want. (Patron)

Website Updates:
Development Blog available. Major and minor updates to the website have been made, including:
  • Reworked the Contribution system around 'Story Breakdowns' allowing multiple stories of credits per comic.
  • Stories can now be imported in Contributions for faster and consistent credit syncing.
  • Added 'Story Breakdowns' to the Comic pages with per-story read/ownership tracking.
  • Added 3 settings for Comic Stats - Appearance Enumeration, Appearance Uniqueness, Character Role Filtering.
  • Character and Creator stats (Reading, Pull List, and Collection) now display according to the above 3 settings.
  • Added the Main Cover to the Change Pulled Cover options.
  • Doubled the upper limit for Community Lists (recommended is still 500)
  • Optimized performance for various pages
  • Adjusted Community algorithms to prioritize higher quality content for trending feeds.

  • Creator Subscriptions: When browsing Creator pages on the League of Comic Geeks website, you will be able to automatically subscribe to new titles from a creator with one simple click. When this creator is associated with an upcoming series (starting with a new #1), their series will be added to your subscriptions and each issue will be pulled automatically.

The first iteration of the Teams database is live. At this time, contributions are limited to those Contributor Rank 3 or higher until we're satisfied with how it works.
  • Team Members (Characters) can be added via Teams corrections with a status of Active or Former.

Patron Updates:
Patron subscriptions have been granted access to two new beta features:
  • Pull List Automation: From your Settings page, you can now opt-in to have your pulled comics automatically added to your Collection or Wish List upon release.
  • Missing Issues Filter: Under the Other Refinements dropdown is a new "Missing Issues" option. When selected from your collection or read list, this filter will display every regular issue (Comic or Annual) that you do not currently own (or read if in the read list). We hope you find this is a great way to quickly identify what you're missing from your collection for each series.
  • Key Issues Filter: Under the Other Refinements dropdown there is also a "Key Issues" option. When selected from your collection or read list, this filter will display every key issue (with a first appearance or death) that you have. More importantly, the comic list will detail what those key events are when viewed.
General Website Updates:
Minor updates to the website have been made, including:
  • Added a new All Issues Filter: Under the Other Refinements dropdown there is also an "All Issues" option. When selected from your collection or read list, this filter will show everything from the series regardless of your list status. This should make it easy to quickly toggle between what is in your list and everything else from the series. 
  • As characters are being assigned to publisher-specific universes, we've added a Universe list to each publisher page. These new Universe hubs will act as a means to find characters within those universes and in the future serve as a central place for those stories.  
  • Added the Characters list to the Submit New Issue form
  • Added "Contributing Editor" role for credits

The new iOS and Android mobile apps have been updated with the following:
  • Added Missing Issues Smart List (BETA) for Patron subscribers

New Mobile Apps:
The new iOS and Android mobile apps have been launched. The new app has been rebuilt from the ground up to match the capabilities of our web app on modern mobile devices. More importantly, it is built on a foundation with significant scalability - new features, better performance, etc.

Pick of the Week:
Changes to the Pick of the Week have been made for clarity and to ensure the top picks don't change week to week. 
  • Voting for a particular week only occurs Wednesday through Saturday. After that, voting is closed and a winner is selected.
  • There is now a dedicated page for POTW, located here that displays the top votes, previous winners, and your voting options.
  • Voting from the Pull List and New Comics page has been adjusted to only permit voting within the new time period.
Dashboard Updates:
The Dashboard has been reworked with the following:
  • A Pick of the Week widget to display the most recent winner.
  • A New & Noteworthy widget to display featured spotlights on new titles, characters, etc.
  • A Reminders widget to add your pulls to your collection each week, vote on the Pick of the Week, etc.
Other Improvements:
  • UX improvements for the Community Feed.
  • Various performance and security improvements.
  • Various bug fixes.
